Richard Ibbotson
Following completion of a Foundation Course in Art and Design in the early 1980’s, I have had a long career managing services for people with disabilities – specialising in autism. I have now returned to my original passion; creating landscapes both real and imaginary.
Having spent the last 30 years living in Perthshire, my inspiration is drawn from the environment, local landscape and any view that has energy and stirs the imagination.
My paintings are the result of battles between mixed media, time, the idea and the reality of what happens on the canvas.
I use a variety of media, often a mix of acrylic paint and oil pastels, to create abstract and imaginary landscapes. They start with a location or image and as different layers are applied, something gradually evolves.
